About The Commons

FAQs and info about The Commons

The Commons

The Commons is a group of chatrooms on various different platforms that was created as a way to give a community to everyone on every platform. We aim to be an accepting community and to hold members to a high standard.-FAQs
1: What is Matrix/XMPP/Revolt?
Matrix/XMPP/Revolt are messaging networks, similar to Discord or Telegram. Matrix and XMPP can be more technical, and may require more advanced understanding of IM networks to use. If you aren't sure what to join, use Discord or Revolt.
2. Are the platforms bridged in any capacity?
Not currently. We are working on bridging Revolt and Discord first, then bridging those two to Matrix. If it is even possible and within our capabilites, we will try to bridge all platforms with each other. Don't hold your breath, though.
3. Can you incorporate x platform?
It depends. We will not incorporate any platform that goes against our values or our guidelines, or we feel is a sufficient data/security risk. You are free to ask, but the answer will most likely be a no.
4. Can I have my roles from one platform on the others?
Yes! If the platform supports roles, it will likely have the same roles as the rest of the platforms. You can mention a staff member in any chat and they will assign you your roles.
